Smithfield Foods, located in Kinston, North Carolina. The plant was founded in 2008 and produces hot dogs, lunchmeat, and bone-in smoked hams. More than 800 employees help to ensure the successful operation of this plant, which produces more than 224 million pounds of pork products every year. Out of 41 plants across the region the Kinston facility was recognized in 2015 by Smithfield Foods with a Sustainability Award for reducing B.O.D (Biochemical Oxygen Demand), and won 2nd place in OPX Leadership Network's Sustainability Excellence in Manufacturing Awards for its water reuse project.
